Cultivating A Creative Mind

One skill that entrepreneurs pride themselves in, is the ability to think quickly and act creatively at will. Their ability to take in loads of information, process it, and turn it into usable material, makes them who they are. Don't get me wrong.....I mean, we are all very creative at times... aren't we? And the answer is YES! We are all creative. But the thing that fascinated me was HOW we are creative, WHEN we are creative, and what is the "magical mix" of elements that sets the stage for us to consistently perform in a extraordinarily creative way.

What I found to be true, was that we are all wired differently. We may all try the same methods, but our mental faculties process and spit out information in a way that is unique to you. You have a personality that greatly influences your mental ability. Another factor to your mental aptitude is your body chemistry. Our bodies have tolerance levels that have their limits. No one is created equal, as one persons ability to focus and learn (in any area) may differ greatly from another. As for me....I am a ferocious learner, who looks with wonder at the world around. I am also night owl, who absolutely enjoys learning. Sleep to me is almost a roadblock to my daily activity....I wish at times I didn't have to do it.

Another factor is your ability to learn. We all have different saturation levels when we learn. How do you you learn best? Is it when you are reading a book, when you are listening to an audio recording, when someone is showing you, or when you are writing it down? And each type of learning contributes to your overall learning ability. What if you applied all these methods to the same thing? Chances are, you would learn it very well. But still you would have a dominant or preferred learning style.
"Know Theyself." -Socrates
Having understood these things, I still wanted to know how to put myself over the creative edge. What was I not doing that would give me the result I was looking for. Here are the answers that changed my life.
1. Daily devote time to learn.
2. For every 2 hours of learning, you will gain 15-30min of creative brilliance.
The smartest business people I know make it a habit to read every day. Maybe they are on to something. If you put these into action, you will allow your mind the input it needs to act creative. Think of it like putting gas in your car. Can your car move down the road without gas? It sure can.....but that requires a lot of pushing and or pulling.
Give your brain the fuel it needs to be amazing!
